Title of Programme: Moving Earth, Crossing Water, Eating Soil, Sensing Maps, Seeing Spirits: An Artist-Led Workshop

Date and Time: 28 January 2023, Saturday, 2pm – 330pm

How do we situate ourselves in unfamiliar places? What might we witness when we situate ourselves in places that asks for your whole body to listen? How do we locate the breath and sound in the quiet pauses within spaces?

In this artist-led workshop, participants are invited to navigate through different environmental knowledges, lessons and wisdoms. Through storytelling and engaging with the overarching themes of the artwork, participants will be invited to reorient our senses to the coordinates of unruly indeterminable spaces on maps. This workshop will take you through the process of creating a memory map, a geomantic compass and a handcrafted talismanic memento.

What cognitive maps and compass bearing abilities do we possess? What lessons might we glean from microfauna and the wisdoms of creaturely companions? What might we find through wayfinding paths that resist linearity?

This performance is presented as part of the first activation of the Moving Earth, Crossing Water, Eating Soil.  Alongside guest artists and collaborators who have been invited to respond to the themes of the work, experience Pulau Sekijang Bendera at sunset as we navigate through different environmental knowledges and wisdoms while thinking about the names of places, creatures, ghosts and gods that cease to exist in our immediate memory.

  • Ticket Pricing excludes Booking Fee. Booking Fee is as follows:
    • $4 booking fee per ticket for tickets $30 and above
    • $2 booking fee per ticket for tickets between $20 and $29.99
    • $1 booking fee per ticket for tickets priced below $20.00

  4. There is no refund, exchange, upgrade, or cancellation once ticket(s) are sold.

Late Seating Advisory

  1. Please arrive 15 minutes before to allow for pre-registration. The ferry to St John’s Islands will depart on time. Due to the nature of the programme, latecomers will not be admitted.
  2. Meeting Point: Sentosa Cove Jetty

 

Others

  1. No admission for individuals below the age of 13 years.
  2. Individuals above the age of 13 will require a ticket for admission.
  3. This is a shine-only event, participants are recommended to come dressed comfortably for walking
  4. Ticket price is inclusive of round-trip ferry transfer to St John’s Island
    • Ferry will depart from Sentosa Cove Jetty to St John’s Island, and return to Marina South Pier

 

Cancellation of performance

  1. For the safety of our audience, SAM reserves the right to cancel the programme due to adverse weather. Audiences will be notified of the cancellation via SMS at least 2 hours before the start of the programme.
  2. Tickets will be refunded, if the programme is cancelled prior to start time.
  3. Once the programme has started, there will strictly be no refund of tickets.
